Инфекции почек и верхних мочевыводящих путей считаются серьезной медицинской проблемой, по которой на постоянной основе ведутся экспериментальные и клинические исследования. Тем не менее этиологические факторы и патофизиологические механизмы развития острого инфекционного почечного воспаления недостаточно понятны. Это касается и вопроса об источниках проникновения бактерий в почку. Существующие на этот счет гипотезы имеют белые пятна. В настоящем обзоре всесторонне рассмотрены пути инвазии микроорганизмов в почку с развитием в ней острого воспаления. Представлены доказательства существующих воззрений, и проведен их критический анализ.
